Adebayo Owolabi joins BSB Shunyi with more than 13 years of international Mathematics teaching experience. He has worked in Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
He holds a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and is completing a Master of Education in Mathematics Education at the American College of Education. His curriculum experience includes the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International A Level Mathematics, including Further Mathematics.
Adebayo believes students develop confidence in Mathematics when difficult ideas are explained carefully and they have time to apply what they have learned. His lessons encourage students to explain their reasoning and test different methods rather than rely only on memorised procedures. He also uses technology when it adds genuine value to learning.
His students have achieved consistently strong external examination outcomes. These include a 100% Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics pass rate at Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Nigeria, a 98% A Level Mathematics pass rate at Diyafah International School in the UAE, reported as 18 percentage points above the global average, and a 100% pass rate in the Oman Ministry of Education Bilingual A Level Mathematics examinations at Ruwad Muscat International School.
At BSB Shunyi, Adebayo looks forward to helping students develop a stronger understanding of Mathematics and approach unfamiliar problems without becoming discouraged.
Outside school, he enjoys travelling with his family and learning about the places they visit.
