At St Andrews International School Bangkok, we always seek opportunities to inspire and engage our students with real global challenges. And when such an opportunity comes, our students love to dive in. One of the most exciting initiatives for our Year 9 students is the Artificial Reef Project. A fantastic blend of education, innovation, and environmental stewardship, this extraordinary project not only addresses coral-related issues in Thailand but also truly embodies all the components of STEAM education – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

At St Andrews Bangkok, we believe that every child has the potential to discover and develop a unique musical voice. Our Instrumental Programme offers students an extraordinary opportunity to explore and master a range of musical instruments, fostering a lifelong love for music and enhancing their cognitive and creative development.

What an exciting time this is for the Aquatics Department at St Andrews International School Bangkok. During the summer, as we basked in the glow of remarkable news of our swimming coach and athlete qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games, the result made it even better. The Olympics, an event that unites athletes from around the world in a celebration of sportsmanship and human spirit, has come particularly close to home for our community this year, inspiring students, staff, and parents alike.

Students enjoy having their own device which they can personalise and which is always available. In response to concerns around bag weight and battery life, we extended the range of devices that students were able to bring to school.

From 12 to 19 June, three of our students at St Andrews Bangkok concluded their academic year attending the NAE-UNICEF Summit 2024 held in Houston, Texas. In a week-long series of panel discussions that highlight the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), students had the opportunity to engage with each other as delegates. Their visit to Houston allowed them to gain insight from experienced speakers, discuss various issues of global importance affecting young people today, and develop practical skills of dialogue and advocacy.

For over eight years, St Andrews International School Bangkok has proudly hosted the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) for the Royal Thai Army, a vital programme for Thai youth in Key Stage 4 and 5 (Years 10-13). The three-year optional programme offers comprehensive military training, culminating in the prestigious Acting Sub-Lieutenant rank and exemption from Thai army conscription, promoting maturity, character, and leadership.

Our recent Life Skills Summer Camp was designed to teach essential skills to our Embracing Differences students. Each day included activities like learning personal hygiene and household chores, and developing their personalities and teamwork. The camp ended with a trip to Pororo Aqua Park, where students put their skills to use in real life. It was a big success, boosting our students' confidence and independence.

As part of the St Andrews Careers programme, Year 10 and Year 12 students had the valuable opportunity to hear from 20 industry professionals, including alumni, about various career pathways. The morning panel discussions provided insights into professional routes, required qualifications, and essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.

Our Bangkok Buddies students had a fantastic week of fun and adventure this summer. Highlights included trips to Siam Water Park, Harbor Land, a trampoline park, a bowling alley, and swimming at the High School. The grand finale was a magical 'Harry Potter' themed day with Curtain Up Bkk, transforming our students into wizards.

Students from St Andrews International School Bangkok (STA) showcased their skills at the recent NISMUN II conference, discussing crucial global issues and earning accolades. Highlights include Angelina's award for Best Position Paper and Chatcha's standout karaoke performance. Discover more about their remarkable experience and achievements.

As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.

The STA Thai Service Project supports Ban Pang Mahan School in Chiang Rai, aiding hill tribe students. This year's Songkran fundraising included selling popcorn, shaved ice, and custom items, raising substantial funds for educational resources and environmental causes. Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6) students impressed with their stunning performance of Beauty and the Beast Jr, showcasing their hard work and talent. The production not only highlighted their performance skills but also provided opportunities for social growth and friendship.

St Andrews Bangkok recently hosted an inspiring SuSTEAMability JAWS Workshop, uniting over 50 teachers from eleven countries across Asia. Through dynamic presentations and workshops, the event highlighted how empowering students through STEAM can drive innovative and sustainable solutions to global challenges.

This year’s Graduation marked the end of High School for the 119 graduates in the Class of 2024 at St Andrews International School Bangkok. With nearly half of the graduates having spent their entire secondary education at St Andrews, the ceremony celebrated their academic achievements, personal growth, and sense of community. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our graduates and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
