2.3. AI learning assistants supporting independent learning
AI-powered learning assistants can support students beyond the classroom by explaining concepts, assisting with revision, answering questions and suggesting approaches to solving academic tasks.
Rather than relying on AI to provide immediate answers, students can use these tools to analyse questions, explore hints and evaluate their own reasoning. When used in this way, AI becomes a valuable learning companion that supports independent study while encouraging students to think critically, solve problems and verify information for themselves.
2.4. Enhancing the learning experience
AI can support the creation of images, videos, educational games and interactive simulations, helping students engage with complex concepts in a more visual and immersive way. For example, scientific phenomena or historical events can be simulated, allowing students to observe, ask questions and explore ideas beyond what they read in textbooks.
In addition, technologies such as text-to-speech, speech recognition and automatic captioning enable students to access learning materials through different formats. These tools can help create more flexible, inclusive and accessible learning environments for all learners.
2.5. Supporting research and problem-solving skills
AI can support students throughout project-based learning by helping them gather and organise information, develop research questions, analyse data and explore multiple approaches to solving a problem.
For example, when investigating climate change, students may use AI tools to process temperature data, identify patterns and visualise findings. However, students must still evaluate information critically, verify sources and draw their own conclusions. By combining AI-powered support with independent thinking, learners can strengthen their research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
2.6. Supporting language learning and communication skills
AI-powered tools can create additional opportunities for students to practise languages through features such as speech recognition, pronunciation feedback, grammar checking and conversations with chatbots.
Students can simulate a wide range of real-world scenarios, including English-language interviews, everyday conversations and presentation practice before delivering their work in class. As a result, they gain more opportunities to build confidence, develop communication skills and receive personalised feedback beyond their direct learning time with teachers.
2.7. Optimising school management and operations
Beyond the classroom, AI can also support various aspects of school operations and administration, including timetable scheduling, student record management, attendance data analysis and forecasting the use of school facilities.
AI-powered chatbots can assist by responding to common enquiries from parents and students regarding school timetables, extracurricular activities and administrative processes. By automating routine tasks, schools can streamline operations, improve efficiency and dedicate more time and resources to educational activities that benefit from meaningful human interaction.

4. The current state of AI adoption in education in Vietnam and around the world
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into education worldwide, particularly in higher education. According to a 2025 UNESCO survey involving 400 responses from the UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks across 90 countries, approximately 90% of respondents reported using AI in their professional work, with nearly half experimenting with AI for teaching and learning. Common applications include research, lesson preparation, assessment and educational administration.
In Vietnam, the adoption of AI in education is also gaining momentum. Under Decision No. 2422/QĐ-BGDĐT, issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on 18 August 2026, AI education will be officially introduced nationwide from the 2026-2027 academic year, following a pilot phase during the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative aims to equip students with foundational AI knowledge, digital skills and the ability to use technology responsibly.
Despite its growing potential, AI adoption continues to present challenges related to educators’ digital readiness, data privacy and the risk of technology dependence. According to the OECD Digital Education Outlook 2026, AI can enhance learning outcomes most effectively when used with clear educational objectives and appropriate guidance. Looking ahead, AI is expected to expand access to learning opportunities and support teachers in refining their practice, rather than replacing the essential role they play in students’ education.

5. Challenges of implementing AI in education
Despite its benefits, the use of AI in education also brings challenges related to technology, data security and responsible use.
5.1. Data security and privacy
AI systems often collect and process large volumes of educational data, including students’ personal information and academic records. Without appropriate safeguards, this data may be vulnerable to misuse or security breaches. Schools must therefore select trusted AI platforms and establish robust data protection policies.
5.2. Technology infrastructure and AI literacy
Successful AI implementation requires investment in digital infrastructure, appropriate devices and reliable internet connectivity. At the same time, educators need ongoing professional development to develop the knowledge and skills required to integrate AI effectively into teaching and learning.
5.3. Resistance to change
Some teachers may face challenges when transitioning from traditional teaching methods to AI-integrated practices due to limited technological skills or concerns that AI may replace their role. Therefore, schools need a well-planned implementation roadmap that combines professional development and training with ongoing support to help teachers adapt to emerging technologies.
5.4. Ethical considerations
The use of AI in education raises concerns regarding information accuracy, academic integrity and intellectual property rights. Students may misuse AI to complete assignments without fully understanding the subject matter or unintentionally rely on inaccurate or copyrighted content. Therefore, schools need to establish clear policies and provide guidance to ensure that students use AI transparently and responsibly.
5.5. The risk of overreliance on AI
Excessive reliance on AI for answers or assignment completion may limit students' ability to think independently, be creative, and solve problems effectively. As a result, teachers should encourage students to develop critical thinking skills and take an active role in evaluating and verifying information rather than depending entirely on AI.
